Nobody knows more about education techniques with measurement and geometry than maths teachers. But when it comes to teaching this content strand, what can smart mobile devices and place-based learning contribute and how can they facilitate the learning process? This workshop will give you some answers! It will show you new ways to put mobile technology together with rich media, geo-location, gamification and storytelling together to deliver an interactive and exciting way for teaching and learning maths while also developing the ICT capability of students. You will start inside the conference venue and learn more about the potential of location-based mobile learning as an educational tool. Next it’s outside in small groups to play a place-based mobile game on your mobile device then return to learn more on how to assemble and publish one of your own. Participants should have the Mobile Learning Academy app (iPhone or Android) installed on their mobile device before the workshop.

Roger is an accomplished, inspiring leader in Australian education with extensive knowledge and experience in online and mobile teaching and learning in the F–12 and university sectors. He ‘pushes boundaries’ in using online and mobile technologies to raise awareness, initiate action and build

capacity in place-based mobile learning, blended and online learning.

Renee is currently AAMT’s Project Manager Online Teacher Support. She has extensive experience working in teaching organisations, advising on change leadership for 21st century learning environments, strategies for building partnerships, and leveraging digital technologies for learning.
